THE KIWANIS CLUB OF EAU CLAIRE (Thursday noon club), will conduct its day long PAUL BUNYAN FLAPJACK FEED fundraiser on Saturday, September 25, 2010. The event runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial High School Cafeteria in Eau Claire.
Over 100 members of this Kiwanis Club and affiliated youth clubs are now out selling advanced sale tickets for $6.00 (adult) and $3.00 (children under 12). Prices at the door are one dollar more for adults and 50 cents more for children under 12. The all-you-care-to eat meal includes pancakes, sausages, orange juice, coffee, and milk. Carry outs are available. Again this year, a silent auction of valuable items donated to Kiwanis will be conducted at the event. A Paul Bunyan look-alike and the infamous “Pancake Man” are slated to appear.
Established in 1919 THE KIWANIS CLUB OF EAU CLAIRE has a 91 year legacy of service projects in the community. At the last flapjack event nearly 3,000 people were served. All proceeds from the annual fundraiser are returned to service projects in the Eau Claire area. The Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum in Carson Park is a major benefactor. Club members created this local tourist and educational site in 1934 and continue a history of financial and service involvement. Other projects benefiting from the fundraiser include four scholarships, six sponsored school service clubs, and many other youth-oriented and civic improvement programs.
